Adobe Campaign v8: what it brings enterprise teams
Adobe Campaign v8 keeps the flexibility of Campaign Classic and adds a modern web interface. What changed, where it shines, and what it asks of your organisation.
Thibault Heyde
In short
- Adobe Campaign v8 combines Classic's technical depth with a modern web interface for marketers.
- It suits organisations with complex data, several brands or markets, and a need for control.
- It asks for maturity: data, technology and marketing have to work closely together.
Why Adobe Campaign suits enterprise organisations
At Pebble we like tools that stand firm and still move with you. Adobe Campaign is a textbook example. As part of Adobe Experience Cloud, it offers marketing automation for companies that work with complex data sources and multiple brands or markets, and that want to stay in control of their customer journeys.
It is no coincidence that brands such as L’Oréal and Air France use Adobe Campaign. The platform lets them communicate at scale and with precision. Set up well, that shows in more efficient marketing processes and better-converting personalised campaigns.
What makes Adobe Campaign strong?
Adobe Campaign is built for teams that want to go beyond the standard newsletter. It lets you communicate through email, SMS, push and even direct mail, fully personalised and driven by smart workflows.
Historically there were two flavours:
- Adobe Campaign Standard (ACS): user-friendly, ideal for marketing teams that want to go live quickly.
- Adobe Campaign Classic (ACC): more technical, but with a great deal of flexibility.
This article focuses on the newest generation of the latter: Adobe Campaign v8. It keeps the technical power and flexibility of Classic, but adds a modern web interface in the spirit of Standard, to give marketers more autonomy and better support. Since this article first appeared, v8 has become the destination for both roads: Adobe now offers Campaign Standard users a transition path to v8, and has announced the end of support for Campaign Classic v7.
Adobe Campaign v8: faster, more stable, more scalable
Campaign v8 takes the familiar strength of Classic further. It has been rebuilt for the cloud, on a modern, stable base that is faster and easier to maintain. That brings speed and reliability, and it makes room for features that matter to large marketing teams.
What makes v8 stand out:
- Faster at scale: v8 runs as a cloud service managed by Adobe, which makes scaling easier and noticeably improves performance.
- More efficient and more stable: v8 runs on a PostgreSQL database managed by Adobe (with Snowflake added in the Enterprise set-up for large volumes), which makes it easier to integrate with external systems.
- Separate data structures: ideal for organisations with several brands or markets. V8 supports separate data structures within one central set-up, with clear permissions and governance.
- Event-based marketing and real-time lifecycle automation: improved APIs and event handling let you use real-time triggers, such as shopping behaviour, app interactions or service events, directly in personalised journeys.
- Better inbox placement and reputation building: v8’s deliverability engine, with smarter sending logic and improved ISP handling, gets more of your email into the right inbox.
- Everything talks to each other: deep integration with Adobe Experience Cloud lets you use dynamic content from Adobe Assets, trigger journeys from behaviour in Adobe Analytics and put audience data from Real-Time CDP to work.
That mix of power, modularity and real-time capability makes v8 a good fit for advanced use cases such as:
- cross-channel onboarding flows with dynamic personalisation
- B2B lead nurturing connected to CRM systems
- trigger-based e-commerce campaigns with product recommendations
- transactional communication (order confirmations, shipping updates) fully automated from external data sources
For companies struggling today with data silos, limited segmentation or cumbersome approval flows, v8 is a breath of fresh air. But, and this matters, the tool asks for a certain maturity.
Adobe Campaign only really comes into its own where data, technology and marketing work closely together.
How Pebble uses Adobe Campaign for clients
We guide you step by step, from strategy and set-up to automation and optimisation. We think along about your data structure, build smart workflows, make sure everything scales and connect external sources where needed.
For Allianz, active in several countries, we built a connection between Adobe Campaign and Azure Blob Storage. Thanks to that integration, local marketing teams now send emails autonomously within a centrally managed framework. The result: more than 50% time saved in building and sending campaigns, and a consistent brand experience across all markets. You can read more in our cases.
We build similar tailored connections to DAM systems, CRMs or other Adobe tools, shaped around what you need.
